Edit Photos Online: Resize, Crop, Rotate, Watermark and Remove Backgrounds

Last updated November 2, 2026

Most photo jobs are small: make it fit an upload form, cut out what is not needed, turn it the right way up, mark it as yours, or lift a colour for a design. You do not need Photoshop for any of them. This guide covers six edits in the browser with Uvolix, the settings that matter, and the built-in alternatives on phones and computers. Images (up to 50 MB) are processed on your device and are not uploaded. JPG photos stay JPG, PNG stays PNG, and WebP stays WebP where your browser supports it.

Resize to exact dimensions

Open Image Resizer, enter the width or height in pixels and keep Preserve aspect ratio ticked so the picture is not stretched. Common targets: 1080 px wide for social posts, 1920 ร— 1080 for screens, 600 ร— 600 for many profile photos.

Need it under a file size, such as 50 KB or 200 KB for an application form? Open Image Compressor and type the limit into Target size in KB. It lowers the quality, and the dimensions only if needed, until the file fits, then tells you the final size, quality and pixel size. Check the face or text is still sharp; if it is not, crop away the background first so the pixels that matter get more of the size budget.

Crop

In Crop Image, enter the starting point (X from the left, Y from the top) and the width and height of the area to keep, all in pixels. For a square crop of a 1200 ร— 800 photo centred horizontally, use X = 200, Y = 0, width = 800, height = 800.

Rotate and flip

Rotate & Flip Image turns the image 90ยฐ right, 90ยฐ left or 180ยฐ, and can flip it horizontally (mirror) or vertically. Use a horizontal flip to fix mirrored selfies, so text reads correctly.

Add a watermark

In Add Image Watermark, type your name, website or "Sample", set the opacity (lower is more subtle; the default is 45%) and place it at the centre, bottom right or top left. A centre watermark is hardest to crop out; a corner watermark is less distracting. Like any visible watermark, it deters casual copying but can be edited out by a determined person.

Remove a plain background

Remove Image Background makes one background colour transparent and saves a PNG. It works best for product photos, logos and signatures on a plain white or single-colour background. Keep Detect background from image corners on, or pick the colour yourself. Raise Tolerance if bits of background remain, and lower it if parts of the subject disappear. Soft edge smooths the outline. Busy backgrounds and hair need an AI cut-out tool instead; this tool does not use AI.

Pick a colour from an image

Load a picture into Image Color Picker and click any point to get its HEX and RGB values, ready to copy into a design tool, CSS or brand guide. Zoom into small details before clicking, because neighbouring pixels can differ.

Tips for good results

  • Start from the original photo, not a screenshot or a WhatsApp copy, which is already compressed.
  • Crop before resizing, so the pixels you keep are the ones you need.
  • Do edits in one pass where you can; each JPG save loses a little detail.
  • Check the download on the device where it will be used.

FAQ

Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail and will look soft.

Why is my resized photo still too big for the form?

Pixel size and file size differ. Compress it after resizing, or save as JPG instead of PNG.

Can I edit several photos at once?

These tools edit one image at a time. To put several images into one file, use JPG to PDF.

Need a different format? See JPG vs PNG vs WebP. All image tools are on the image tools page.

Ready to try it?

Resize an image to exact pixel dimensions while optionally preserving aspect ratio.
