How to Compress a PDF and Reduce File Size

Last updated August 22, 2026

PDF compression is useful when an upload portal or email service has a file-size limit.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Open Compress PDF and select one document.
  2. Choose Recommended, Extreme or Less compression.
  3. Select Compress PDF and wait while pages are processed.
  4. Compare the original and compressed sizes, then download the result.

Choosing a level

Recommended balances readability and size. Extreme creates smaller files but may soften text and images. Less compression preserves more detail.

Important limitation

Browser compression rebuilds pages as optimized images. Searchable text, links, forms, signatures and interactive elements may not remain interactive. Keep the original PDF and verify the downloaded copy.

Privacy

The file is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to Uvolix.
